Our Story

In Bambara culture, the land is prosperity—a sacred bond between humanity and nature. Farming is a way of life, rooted in balance and respect. This wisdom is the foundation of NEMA, a vision to reimagine agriculture as a path to self-reliance, resilience, and a thriving future.

Founded by Oumar Barou Togola, NEMA began with fonio—a resilient grain—and grew into a movement to restore soil health, empower farmers, and strengthen communities. Today, it extends beyond grains, cultivating fresh vegetables and building sustainable food systems that reduce reliance on imports and reconnect people to the land.

NEMA’s mission is simple—honor the balance of earth and soul. Every crop regenerates the soil, every harvest uplifts communities, and every step forward builds sustainability, equity, and local pride. Through partnerships and collective action, NEMA revitalizes land, restores markets, and secures a future where the land thrives—and so do its people.
